Listed earlier this week at $620,000, the property has upped its game with new paint, roof, heating system, and a remodeled kitchen. Its Memorial West neighborhood lands west of Dairy Ashford and south of Memorial Dr.
Facing a courtyard and across from a waterside swimming pool, a 2006 Tuscan townhome anchors its corner of Clear Lake’s Armandwilde development. A pond roped off from Mud Lake, the final form of Armand Bayou as it flows into Clear Lake, laps at the property’s shore, which is located off Space Center Blvd. north of E. NASA Pkwy. The old Jim West Mansion, once a repository for moon rocks but now an anchor haberdashery for Hakeem Olajuwon, is nearby. Don’t be fooled by the apparent symmetry at the entry (top). Once you’re inside the updated 1982 home in Cambridge Green, a mewsy subdivision just west of Kirby Dr. and south of W. Holcombe Blvd., you’ll see that much of the footprint swings to one side. A combo living-dining room further emphasizes the long and low of the lot-filler’s layout. The north-facing front entry looks down the length of a pedestrian-minded greenbelt that spools off the neighborhood street’s loop. A listing that began in July 2014 terminated earlier this month; a relisting by a new agency last week carries a $984,500 price tag.
Over in the Mod Mecca of Meyerland, a well-tended 1960 home rolls out the red carpet — and terrazzo tile, wood paneling, and other mid-century finishing touches. In near-original condition, the tilt-topped property is located east of Chimney Rock Rd. and south of S. Braeswood Blvd. Its listing earlier this week comes with a $459,900 price tag.

No, you aren’t looking at a portfolio of images from National Geographic: This is a renovated 1990 Georgian in Sugar Land’s William’s Glen neighborhood, southwest of Sweetwater Blvd. Listed on Monday, the 4,232-sq.-ft. spread is now asking $619K.
The Stone Age mashes with Mid-Century Modern in Friendswood, where an updated 1961 stunner designed by architect M. Bliss Alexander accents its crisp and clean lines with 12 tons of rock from Wimberly. Listed a week ago with a $1.19 million asking price, the home last sold in 2007, for $585K. It sits on 1.3 acres in the Perry Grove neighborhood, located southwest of Friendswood Dr. and W. Spreading Oaks Ave.
A seaside escape in Oak Ridge North? Despite its landlocked lot in Montgomery County, a sandy-colored 1968 property of brick and bric-a-brac has been beaching it, starting with the palm trees at curbside. For the shells and such, skip the trip to the coast and head inside . . .
Over in the Brighton Place neighborhood in Spring Valley, a 1979 contemporary quietly observed its shift into middle age this year. The property has kept its bones but also updated some of the padding. It’s been listed since mid-September for $729,900.
Now flipping in Sherwood Oaks, a fully renovated ranchburger with rebooted pool serves up an open floor plan (above) with an outside of fresh greens. (The droopy tilted mailbox at curbside — shown in the older photo at right — has been replaced, too.) The overhauled property, located west of the Sam Houston Tollway and north of I-10, popped up on the market Wednesday as a relisting, asking $449,000. That’s the same price a previous listing by the same agent had reached by June; the property took a quick break and repositioned its pricepoint up from an initial $230,000 set in May, shortly after the current owner picked it up for $175K just a day after its listing at the end of April.
The frontrunner on a split lot with a shared driveway, this 2002 contemporary in the Westhaven Estates area captures space for a splash zone courtyard. Sculpted landscaping and decorative panels soften the curbside appearance of the sturdy wall erected near the sidewalk on Inwood Dr., south of San Felipe Rd. between Nantucket and Potomac drives. The front property’s relisting by a new agent this week set a $1.139 million asking price. Back in February, a previous market appearance had begun with a $1.195 million price tag. A reduction in April, to $1.145 million, briefly snagged a contract in June before the property took off for the summer.
This Energy Corridor area home may present Frenchier lines to its neighbors, but there’s some whoopin’ country-style living hidden inside. Located in the Lakeside Venture neighborhood — west of S. Kirkwood Rd. and north of Briar Forest Dr. — the property’s large-but-narrow lot is just over an acre and shaped a bit like a boomerang, with one tip near the street. In its relisting earlier this week, the 1979 home’s asking price took another tack: $1.295 million. A previous listing by the same agent in July 2014 had begun at $1.695 million but dropped the asking price a month later to $1.475 million.
At the newer end of Old Braeswood, where the housing is typically more fifties vintage than stately prewar stock, there’s an updated stoney-faced original home with a smooth-sided seventies addition. The latter blocks the large corner lot’s interior from cross street Kirby Dr., 3 blocks north of Brays Bayou and the Rice School. Some of the added space rocks on, including the family room with its sturdy stone fireplace (top). A contract on the property fell through in May 2014, when the asking price was $1.15 million. After a brief timeout, the home reappeared in July with a fresh price tag that’s still in effect: $1.29 million.
Viewed from the waters of Lake Conroe, the lacy tiers of a 1974 home in April Sound lend a layer cake appearance to a property that likes balconies enough to feature them outside and in. Leggy columns connect exterior parapets on 3 levels (top). The interior’s double-sided version spans the main living area between a pair of wooden staircases. Listed at the end of August, the property has a $950,000 asking price. A previous listing that lasted for 8 months back in 2008 had originally sought $888K but found no takers, despite a reduction to $747K.
Like an arrowhead, the groomed lot sprouting a custom 2007 Mediterranean comes to a point — though the tip, where Merlin and Ben Hur (drives) part ways south of Westview and west of Voss Rd., is separated from the base by a circular driveway linking the 2 streets within the Cedarwood section of Spring Valley. Listed a week ago, the property has a $1.649 million asking price. Does the lots-o’-lawn on the grand approach come with a back-lot equivalent? Judge for yourself:
