A 1976 home by architect Lucian Hood in the Indian Trails neighborhood north of Tanglewood displays different approaches to detail inside and out. Tall windows, extensive parquet flooring, and columns add drama to the finishes inside (top). The outside? Not so much (above). The corner lot property, at Chimney Rock Rd. north of Woodway Dr., has a front-filling driveway that curves around semi-walled landscaping. Listed last week, it has a $1.4 million asking price. That’s just a smidge more than the $1.375 million sought in 2003, when the north-facing home last appeared on the market; it eventually sold the following year for $823,500.

Renovations after Hurricane Ike appear to have maximized the lighting and open plan of a streamlined Bayou Woods home cited in separate records as a 1960 or 1964 edition. The property listed a week ago; it has a $2.9 million asking price.

Does a smashing new splashscape — along with a dash of fresh interior paint — at a Woodland Heights home that had been renovated just a few years earlier merit this kind of price jump?  An extensive overhaul completed in 2010 to a 1920 structure along a wiggle of Merrill St. in the Hermosa Court section of the neighborhood brought a $750K buyer to the property in 2012. Last week, the re-re-tweaked vintage property reappeared on the market, this time asking $997,500.

It’s a square-off. One of Arquitectonica’s colorful, cube-studded townhomes on Graustark St. is back on the market, a year after its last sale, for $345K. This time around, the 30-year-old contemporary property’s asking price is $449,200.

The clipped front lawn of a 1950 home in Ayrshire might be its tidiest feature. “CURRENTLY A MESSY BACHELOR PAD BUT A QUICK REHAB WILL MAKE IT SHINE,” screams the description put up earlier this week. Asking price: $535,000. Is the warning meant to make viewers yell to themselves OH IT DOESN’T LOOK SO BAD? Or do the photos already portray the place in its best light?

Tilt Creep? The saw-toothed roof of a 1977 Walkers Mark townhome located south of the Energy Corridor and west of Wilcrest Rd. appears to have slanted some of the interior’s fittings as well. If so inclined, grab a protractor and explore all the angles on this property . . .

The nature of this ravine-lot home in Timbergrove Manor is looking a bit . . . reserved. Earlier this week, the woodsy property (with saltwater pool and path to a bayou-let) appeared on the market. Asking price: $450,000 $405,000. Updates over the years have boosted the property’s energy efficiency, natural lighting, and counter space. The latter starts right off the entry . . .
